When I was a kid my favourite wild bird was the Yellow Hammer. Sometimes confused with the finches, it’s actually a bunting. In the summer months, and it seemed always to be summer then, I’d listen out on quiet afternoons for its pretty little song, which I’d been taught to recognise as saying:
a little bit of bread and NO cheese!
Then, I started growing up, life got busy and far, far too noisy, and I stopped listening. The yellow hammer did not go away, it carried on without me, sweet as sweet.
Recently, I started listening again.

Looks like a nice, clean start much like your house move will be. Good luck with it all.

I’m a birdwatcher, so I love the name because of the story behind it. I try to slow down and listen, but it’s good to be reminded.

I, too, like the new look, and I am glad you will still have archives of the old diary. My favorite activity on boring or rainy days is going back and re-reading all your old entries. I claim the medal for having read every one from the very beginning! My best to you…BJ

I have a CD in my car now that has guitar music with birds chirping loudly behind/in front of it. I love it. Nice new blog, too. Afraid I’ve been away too much lately and haven’t kept up. Have we sold the house? I’ll have to wend my way backward. Best of luck, whichever it is.

I’m not a bird watcher but I loved this history you gave. I like the new look.
