Christmas Day
Lunch was accomplished, in both senses of the word. Half an hour late, so I got to see the Queen with a large kitchen spoon in my hand. And, another year of cooking experience under my belt, literally, yielded the best, sweetest, tenderest roast chicken we’ve ever had.
“That was superb,” Graham said.
“Thanks.”
“No, really. Very, very good.”
“I appreciate that, but I’m just a little too full to be enthusiastic in any real sense of the word.”
“Me too. Tell you what, let’s leave the dishes and have a good siesta.”
And that is what we did.
Now, having picked over the chicken carcase and selected mild things from the big stack of goodies in the fridge, we’re just about flummoxed. No good for anything at all but flopping in front of the TV.
“What did you do with the remote?” Graham asked a little while ago.
“Is Dolly on the sofa?”
“Yes.”
“She’ll be sleeping on it, then.”

clever kitty. Did you dare disturb her to retrieve it?

“[T]oo full to be enthusiastic” just about sums it up for our house, too, but a good time was had by all.

Oh, lovely lovely. You steel our heart with your perfect chicken and your snoozes. We haven’t eaten yet here, but we are leaning toward fattening comfort food……all of which we do not need.
Happy holiday to you both.

Happy, happy Christmas! Sounds like you had a lovely time! I had two of my sons here. One is in Vermont and another with his wife and her parents in snowed-in Oregon. Christmas dinner is over and, like you, I am leaving the dishes and taking a nap. I bow to your wisdom and to Dolly’s.

That’s funny, our remote I lost on the bed covers some time before 6 a.m.

Sounds like you had a peaceful and comfortable holiday. Me, too. Have a good Boxing Day!
Hugs from the piano-lesson capital of Asia,

Hmmm … here’s another one who is leaving the dishes for later. Family has gone home, left-overs are available for grazing and a brief nap has energized me enough to — uhmmm — read for awhile. No point in getting strenuous. Smiles and hugs to all here.

Replete with the best roast chicken ever. Sounds delightful. Were you ever able to retrieve the remote?

Heh! Oh, yes, all you have to do with Dolly is offer her a tummy-tickle and she rolls over to expose whatever it was she had taken to hiding. You retrieve it, and then pay for it with 5 minutes close tickle.
Actually, we didn’t eat all that much. Just enough to feel comfortably replete and dozy the whole day long. We did get to see the Christmas specials of Dr Who, Wallace & Gromit, and Sharon & Tracey, so all was not lost.

Glad y’all had a lovely Christmas day. Had roast chicken here, too! Spent the rest of the day reading, as there was nothing so good as a Dr. Who special on the tv.
