I took today off. It was no great problem–Graham had things he wanted to do indoors and the WWW (Wet Welsh Weekend) came in on time and under low, low cloud. If it’d been any lower we’d have been looking down on it.
I had a little wander around the dripping wet garden this morning, waterproof held out over my head like a giant plastic cap, but apart from that I’ve stayed indoors, dry and warmish. I say ‘warmish’ because we’re keeping this house a little cooler than the last to avoid horrendous bills for winter heating.
And now, just a couple of minutes short of 18:00, and dark because the clocks changed in the small hours, taking an hour off the evening and pasting it on the morning, I’m ready to flop in front of the TV until dinner time. Very shortly now my routine evening call out will start up: ”Is it wine time yet?”

I think our clocks go back next Sunday. (Nov 2nd) Hummm – that means we’ll be driving back in the dark from our lunch with Gary, next week.
It’s wine time – go ahead.

We’ve had a wet weekend here, too. It’s nice to be in and dry. I dug out my longjohns this weekend, against the clammy feel that even creeped inside.
Saw a glimpse of blue this afternoon, not enough to cover a Dutch bum. But I did get outside and trimmed back the cherry tomato vines. There are still a few ripening out there.
Stay cwtch.
Hugs from Corea,

I’ll have now a glass of wine too, so it must be wine time!

Isn’t it any time is wine time if I say so? Well, I say so, so have at it, and I think a just might have a glass of it, as well, just to keep you company, mind you! Votre sante’! It’s a bit after 1500 hours here.

I got my wine. Graham felt it necessary to fit four new mirrored bathroom cabinets first, and then to vacuum the floor. He’s mean that way.
Anyway, I got my wine at last. Cheers!

Four new mirrored bathroom cabinets! On a Sunday? He’s driven, that’s for sure… Not fair making you wait for your wine, hope it was yummy French stuff
A votre santé indeed!

Mary Lee asked “Isn’t it any time is wine time if I say so?”
There is story told about the U.S. Supreme Court back in the 19th century — (and strangely enough when I had heard this story I was told it involved a shot of whiskey but I just Googled it to find out to which Justice the line belonged and discovered it actually involved a glass of wine) — They supposedly had a habit of starting their deliberations with a glass of wine if it was a damp and rainy day in Washington — and then Justice John Marshall decreed that since the authority of the Supreme Court extended over the entire United States that “It must be raining somewhere!” and so every deliberation session was accompanied by a civilized glass of wine.

Wet here, too. Our clocks go back next weekend. It is still warm enough to avoid turning the heat on except for very brief periods. This winter’s fuel bill is going to be horrid. Why does the price of heating fuel not go down when the price of gasoline goes down?

This is off-topic, but you should enjoy this. Footage from the streets of London in 1904.

Yesterday was glorious, until the humidity forced me to turn on AC to get some sleep. Now this morning 40 something degrees and winds gusting to 30 mph and due to dry ground we are under fire watch.
