I just got back from dropping Graham off at the holiday camp for his weekend stint and got myself sat at my desk when the phone rang.
It was Sally our solicitor sounding really sad. It seems that our buyers have encountered terminal mortgage difficulties and are unable to afford to buy our house. They have therefore withdrawn from the deal.
We’ll have one or two councils of war over the weekend but it’s almost certain that we’ll have to drop out of our purchase of the lovely house in Wales; it may be that they’ll be willing to hang on for us but, truly, I have very little hope of another buyer for this place until the housing crunch is over.
Neither Graham nor myself are completely surprised. The buyers have been silent for a long time.
So. With your forbearance I’ll sign off on the journal for a couple of days, returning on Monday. I feel the need to lick wounds and settle my thoughts.
